JUNE
2003 UPDATE:
The L Word (your letters sent to Guin)
As
was listed on the front page of the site recently Guinevere
contacted us and asked fans to email in with ideas for the
show 'The L Word'. We had quite a few responses ALL
of which were sent to Guin when we received them. Thanks
to everyone who participated and took time to email their
ideas. You can see guins msg here.
Guinews
Interview-Phone,
Email etc!
Ok
so I have Guins home phone number and her cellphone. I called
her a few times and got her machine (nice cute guin message
btw). Anyway I never managed to cross paths with her at
the right time and foolishly gave up. Yes I know, I missed
the chance of a lifetime but fear not fans I am planning
to attempt to get that phone interview once more.
I will be calling and emailing her over the next few weeks
in the hope that I can catch her at home, shes a busy woman
after all! Please if theres something you want to ask her
email it to us but don't get me to ask 'do you have a gf'.
As much as we'd all like to know, I think she's probably
not that keen to discuss! :o) ...... Max

Current
Schedule
Seems
our Guin is madly busy as usual right now. Mainly with putting
her multi talents in the direction of script writing. In
the pipeline at the moment are numerous adaptations of novels
such as Jerzy Kosinskis 'Pinball' and 'Blind Date'. Blind
Date sounds like a great premise for a script since it's
based around such diversities as blackmail, murder, escaping
being murdered at the Bel Air home of Sharon Tate the night
of the Manson Killings, transexual temptresses and more!
Can't wait to see what Guin does with that script, sounds
like it might be a really great movie. Pinball sounds like
it might also be an interesting movie. To be directed by
Gary Fleder who has most recently directed 'The Imposter'
and 'Don't Say A Word' along with a few tv series so this
film will hopefully see the light of day.Perhaps the most
amazing fact that Guin is working on the scripts for these
novels is that the man who wrote them led a life worthy
of a film himself. His rather colourful life led to his
apparent suicide in 1991 and many to this day still discredit
him as a writer in his own right but rather as a phony.
The script for the movie 'The Inquisitor' is also a project
Guin is working on and it's set to be directed by Neil LaBute
whose most famous work is possibly 'In The Company Of Men'
and 'Nurse Betty'. Hopefully all of these projects will
work out and we'll be able to check out Guins interpretations
of these novels sometime soon.
Whats
happening with Bettie Page?
This project seems to have been discussed for years, well
actually, it has been! Anyway the actual script is finished
but the movie is still incomplete and infact it's difficult
to know if it's even in production. IMDB has no record of
this movie which isn't a good sign. Tentatively titled The
Ballad Of Bettie Page, the movie was expected to surface
some time in the summer of this year but the winter months
are coming closer and still no movie. Could be that it's
simply facing problems because of the various other Bettie
Page productions which are meant to be up and running also
but we all know that NOBODY deserves this more than Guin
with all the effort and work she's put into the research
of the movie. Plus face it, she looks a lot like Bettie
Page.
Stray
Dogs, Junk, Pipe Dreams and Seahorses.
Stray Dogs sounds like it's a heavy movie which requires
you to be in a certain type of serious mood to watch but
since Guin is the main character I'm sure it'll be great
all the same. It's available soon on dvd or vhs and you
can check out the link to the page where you can buy it
from the stray dogs section in the movies page.
Junk is pretty elusive and no word on where to get to see
it at home yet.
Pipe Dreams sounds like a pretty good movie and Guins character
as Diane Beltrami sounds great. You should be able to get
a copy of this soon enough hopefully. The fact it has Mary
Louise Parker in it is a semi bonus since she has been in
two lesbian friendly movies already 'Boys On The Side' and
'Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistlestop Café'.
Seahorses looks like such a sweet premise for a movie. So
tragic yet really interesting. It's a short movie which
director Tania Trepanier has made to help launch her film
career and it basically about a woman who has amnesia and
wakens up in hospital with a man claiming to be her husband
and a woman claiming to be her wife (guin). Sounds intriguing.
Wonder if we'll ever get to see it! Most up to date news
appaears to be that it's in post production but we think
it might be a little more complete than that now and hope
to catch it soon.
News
on the Guin front states that the lovely Guin will be playing
the character of Mary in a movie named Junk. The movie will
hopefully be released later in the year and is being directed
by Stephanie Meurer. It is currently in production and no
doubt keeping Guin busy as she combines it with her other
projects. Other
Guin Film news is that she'll be playing a supporting role
in the movie Pipe Dream which is being directed by John
Walsh. The movie also stars such names as Mary-Louise Parker,
Rebecca Gayheart and a few others who are recognisable...
looks like it should be an interesting movie for Guin to
be in!
Even
more Guin!!!??? Yup thats right.. Giun is in another movie..
isn't this coooool. Anyway.. she's playing a woman named
amanda in a short film by Tania Trepanier named Seahorses.
Not sure whether this one will go national though.. but
we can live in hope!
Thanks to 'Cara' and 'Kent' for the info mentioned above
- posted sept 2001
Ok
so you're all wondering what Guin is up to at the moment other
than doing the Film Festivals and the usual stuff... so here
goes.. shes working on a script for director Neil LaBute (Nurse
Betty, Your Friends And Neighbours, In The Company Of Men).
The script is at the moment named 'The Inquisitor' and as
well as this Guin is keeping busy adapting the novel Pinball
for the big screen. As always The Ballad Of Bettie Page is
still underway and hopefully it should be out there for us
all to see around 2002... about time i hear you all cry and
heres hoping that this particular version is the most successful
since rumours abound that Martin Scorcese is making an alternative
version with Liv Tyler in the lead role... but hey we ALL
know Guin will portray a far better Bettie Page than Liv Tyler!
Also if you get the chance to see Stray Dogs DO SO! As soon
as we're in touch with Guin (VERY soon, work commitments permitting)
we'll ask her for some more news and a special message for
her fans!
Thanks to 'Parks' for some of the info mentioned above
OLDER
NEWS: Guinevere has written the screenplay for this movie
and plans to star in it. It is based on the life of 50's 'model'
Bettie Page who caused much controversy in her time with her
rather risque poses which often included bondage and sado-masochistic
tones. Not too much is known about the production of this
movie other than the script is all finished by Guin and Mary
Harron but hopefully we can let you know soon, as we also
are desperate to find out!
Just to dispell any rumours...... Guin hasn't been thrown
off this movie in favour of Liv Tyler who is 'apparently'
to star in ANOTHER movie about Bettie Page which is being
directed by Martin Scorcese and currently has the running
title of Bettie Page:The Life Of A Pinup Legend. As far as
we know, the Bettie Page movie which Guin co-wrote and is
due to star in, is currently in development in New York by
Christine Vachon the lady who produced Go Fish of course,
and is called The Ballad Of Bettie Page. |
